We believe that the best kind of teaching and coaching comes in its purest form: The Truth.  Everything else is secondary.  Get in the gym.  Put in the work.  Embrace coaching.  Grow your game.  And, of course, have some fun along the way.  We built our girls basketball club around the simple concept of players continuously getting better at the game they love.  Through quality teaching and instruction, we aim to improve the skill sets of our individual players, enhance their understanding of basketball concepts, and teach them how to play the game of basketball at a high level.

On August 1, 2013, The Truth Basketball officially started with one girls team.  This team was a group of 6th graders who regularly competed against the 8th grade level that winter.  By the summer of 2014, this pioneer 6th grade team went on an undefeated run at the Illinois AAU State Championships.  This same 6th grade team would go on to finish in the top-20 at AAU Nationals in Franklin, TN.  Since that inaugural season, The Truth has gone on to have multiple teams qualify and attend AAU Nationals, including three teams at three different age levels (5th, 6th, 7th) in 2015 and 2016.  Showcasing our teams and succeeding against some of the best teams in the country has had major benefits for our player's growth and development.  Youth girls basketball players from all across the western suburbs seem to have taken notice.  In the Spring of 2018, The Truth hosted 18 competitive teams ranging from 3rd to 11th grades.  We have also developed hundreds of players outside of our club teams through our various camps, clinics, and skills training opportunities.

On January 1, 2018, The Truth proudly partnered with Mercury Elite.  Mercury Elite is one of the largest boys travel basketball programs in Illinois.  Much like The Truth, the single most important goal of Mercury Elite is helping players strengthen their individual skill sets to reach their maximum potential and be able to contribute to their teams in a meaningful way.  We believe that this common goal, along with our combined experience and leadership teams, will enable us to positively impact the lives of even more area basketball players.  By merging The Truth with Mercury Elite, our shared families now have excellent options for both their girls and boys to play basketball on competitive, well-coached teams with a strong focus on individual skill development.

our services

The Truth Basketball  offers competitive teams in two distinct seasons: Spring/Summer (March-June/July with tryouts in late-February) and Fall/Winter (October-February with tryouts in early-August).  Please note, the Fall/Winter season is offered to middle school and grade school players only to avoid conflicts with the IHSA high school season.  You can find specific information about our upcoming tryouts under the "Tryouts" page.  Player's fees are dependent on age and travel schedulePlease feel free to reach out to us via the "Contact" page for specific player's fee questions.

Because The Truth is an independent, club basketball team.  We hire trained coaches and staff to coach our teams.  Many of these coaches are top high school and college coaches in this area.  Others on staff, are former players looking to break into the coaching ranks.  Either way, we decided that our team would be built on the same values of the very people that started it - committed, hard-working, and striving for excellenceWe host practices and training primarily out of the the West Chicago Park District (see below).
